Classroom Times
Mrs. Nation - KF- West Central Elementary August 16 - 20, 2010
We're Off to a Great Start!
I am very proud and honored to be your child's
kindergarten teacher this year. We have gotten off to a
wonderful start in KF this year. We are going to have
so much fun learning to read, write, count, and think!
You will receive this newsletter weekly in your child's
red take-home folder. Please keep it at home for your
reference. I will included important dates and activities
of the class for the week.
I will also be highlighting a different student each
week in the newsletter. When it is your child's week to
be "Student of the Week" I will send home an
information sheet for you to help him/her fill out.
If you have any questions or concerns
please feel free to call me at the school 706-235-8836,
e-mail me at qnation@rcs.rome.ga.us,
or send a note in your child's folder.

ONE MILLION WORDS
Our goal at West Central is for all
kindergarten students to read One Million
Words this year. We need your help:
Please read with your child each night and
record the titles of the books you read on
the book log that is in their red take home
folder. Also practice their sight word list
each night.
Students who fill up
their book logs and learn all
their sight words will receive
recognition at our
Renaissance Awards
ceremonies and get to
attend a special reading
celebration.
OPEN HOUSE
Please be sure to attend our Open House on
Tuesday, August 17, from 7:00 - 8:30 P.M. This is
a time when you can come by and check out our
classroom and ask me questions about your child's
progress so far in kindergarten. I look forward to
meeting you that night.
HOMEWORK
I will begin sending homework home in September.
Your child will receive a monthly homework packet
that will stay in their folder until the end of the
month. Please help your child complete
his/her homework. This helps reinforce
what we a learning at school.
